In calmness and quietness, comfort arises

Silence is something I never quite understood.
There are all sorts of silence. Some calm us down, and some haunt us; some make us feel safe, and some drive us anxious; some are comfortable, and others are uncomfortable.
It’s interesting how silence either calms us down and makes us comfortable or drives us crazy, creating an uncomfortable environment . There’s simply no middle ground.
Weirdly, silence can calm us down until we are still as water yet stir us up until we are demented as waves. We could enjoy the silence and its perks, yet at the same time, accidentally stumble into something that reminds us of our biggest fears.
Discovering the true nature of silence sparked me on a journey to understanding it. It’s the question that ties everything together, that binds all questions together.
What puzzled me most was that silence could be comforting to some yet frightening for others. It seemed like the experience varied with different experiences.
What exactly is silence?
Silence is frightening.
It’s a threat that haunts us all. It’s a treatment of isolation, a punishment of solitary. It blocks us from the world, shuts off our senses, and leaves us completely alone, desperately crying for help.
Silence broadcasts every thought that passes through our heads, every voice that comes to mind. It exposes every intention in our heads, shouting them out loud and clear.
We are forced to face ourselves in silence — the worst part of ourselves. We can no longer hide ourselves — everything is exposed. We try to run away, but silence echoes every voice in our heads, reminding us about the worst parts of us.
Silence uncovers our insecurity, forces us to confront ourselves, and pushes us to face our deepest fears. It drives us to deal with our darkest side and forces us to make peace with ourselves until we find balance within ourselves and discover harmony with our souls.
Until we find stillness.
Silence is comforting.
When we find peace within ourselves, we realize that it’s our darkest sides that make us whole, that confronting our deepest fears is the only way to know ourselves, and that making peace with our darkest selves is the only way to finally comfort ourselves.
When we find balance with our hearts, we discover that life isn’t about success but satisfaction, that it is only through that elegant balance between emotions that we can find our identity, and that it’s only through maintaining that balance that we can calm the storm within ourselves.
When we find harmony with our souls, we discover our deepest desires and orchestrate this beautiful symphony that shines within our hearts. We reach concord with our true selves and finally understand ourselves.
When we find stillness, we silence our fears and quiet our thoughts.
When we find stillness, we find true silence.
When we find true silence, we find comfort.
True silence is not about external environments but about making peace with ourselves, finding balance in our hearts, and orchestrating harmony in our souls. It’s about comfort, calming the strongest waves within our hearts.
It does not matter how quiet the external world is, but how calm the internal world is. A silent world broadcasts our inner world and shows us the true nature of ourselves.
When we are still and silent, we find security. We realize that silence is no longer solitary but company with ourselves, a chance to listen to ourselves and discover ourselves.
It is only through stillness that we can discover our place in this world, find our identity in our lives, and finally achieve something far greater than we ever could.
“To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.” — Lao Tzu
